To create a lively, music-filled atmosphere, the Music Composing Society hosted a concert on the 25th of April 2026 in our grand auditorium. The doors opened at 6:45 p.m., and the seats were ready and waiting for the audience to arrive. Looking forward to a great evening ahead! Everyone was dressed smart and casual for the occasion, with bouquets of flowers in their arms, showing full support for the performers. The concert began at 7:30 p.m. sharp.

The concert started off with the emcees introducing themselves, along with the hard work and dedication the teachers and members took to prepare for the concert. The concert’s theme, “昱”, which translates to brightness and radiance, explores how light emerges, fades, and returns—mirroring moments of uncertainty and clarity in life– shone brightly on the screen, as the lights went dim. 15 songs were showcased on tonight’s stage. Each song was filled with one’s creative flow, with each lyric carefully chosen for the performance.

The music genres ranged from modern pop to traditional Chinese music. The first song, “允许你的世界没有我” (“Allow your world to be without me”) began with a beautiful, sorrowful melody, yet full of emotion. The soft rhythm with the graceful vocals filled the entire auditorium. Each audience was in complete mesmerisation, listening contentedly to the first couple of songs that had different emotions and deep understandings.

The following songs interpreted the struggles and memories of people, from unrequited love to reminiscing. Through songs such as “Home” and “惦记欸” (“Still Thinking About You”), the composers expressed contrasting emotions—from the warmth and comfort brought by love to the quiet loneliness of reminiscence.

As the concert came to a close, all members of the Music Composing Society gathered on stage for a group photo as a lasting memory. Through the theme of “昱” (“Radiance”), the performances illustrated that light is not constant, but something that emerges through moments of doubt, emotion, and growth. Each composition, with its unique style and expression, contributed to this journey, reflecting both the struggles and warmth found in everyday life. Ultimately, the concert was not only a showcase of musical talent but also a meaningful portrayal of how light continues to shine, even in the most uncertain times.
