The Qing Ming Festival is a time for remembering and honouring ancestors. To promote the appreciation of traditional culture and cuisine, the Academic Department organised a food-based festival market on the 23rd of April 2026 at the Well-Wisher Pavilion with the assistance of the Academic Affairs Committee Members.

After the committee members completed the preparations, the festival market was ready to welcome visitors. As it officially opened, the Pavilion quickly came alive with activity. Two tables were neatly arranged as stalls, each presenting a variety of traditional cuisines commonly associated with the Qing Ming Festival. Among the food items were Qing Tuan, Ming Qian Tea, Pu Zi Kueh, and traditional fried dough twists, each offering a taste of cultural heritage and tradition.

Each delicacy offered a distinct flavour and reflected its cultural significance. Qing Tuan is a traditional Chinese green-coloured, glutinous rice dumpling, often filled with ingredients such as red bean paste or yam. Ming Qian tea is known for its delicate aroma and high nutritional value. Pu Zi Kueh features a soft outer layer with a savoury filling, while the fried dough twists are crispy and lightly sweet. As students sampled the different items, they were able to gain a better understanding of the traditional cuisines associated with the Qing Ming Festival.

The festival concluded with a group photo of the committee members, taken by a teacher from the Academic Department. In conclusion, the Qing Ming Festival food market served as a meaningful platform for students to experience and appreciate traditional culture through cuisine.
