On the 18th of April 2026, the Classical Music Piano Finals were held at the school auditorium. The competition was designed to highlight the skills of young pianists and provide a constructive platform for positive artistic expression. It is also a platform the Kuen Cheng Co-Curricular Department created to help foster appreciation for classical piano music.
A total of 18 brilliant contestants, nine each for the intermediate and advanced category, took part in the competition. Each participant performed a classical piece, with works by renowned composers such as Johann Strauss II, Friedrich Burgmuller and Ludwig van Beethoven. The performances demonstrated a wide range of technical skills, musical expression, and interpretation.

The panel of judges includes Dr. Wang I Ta, a renowned pianist and educator from Taiwan, Dr. Ho Su Han, Assistant Professor at UCSI University Institute of Music and Dr. Clare Chan Suet Ching, Associate Professor from UPM who holds a PhD in Music (Ethomusicology), evaluated the contestants based on technical accuracy, musical expressions, stage presence and overall performance.
Before the judges announce the results of the competition, two students from the Music Composing Society performed two songs, 《落叶归根》(Luo Ye Gui Gen) and Best Part, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. Next, Vice Principal Madam Chong Siew Fah presented souvenirs to the three judges to show our appreciation for having accepted the invitation as judges.

The Competition went on smoothly, and everyone felt nervous when the results were finally announced. The consolation prize for the intermediate category was won by Chong Jia Qi, Lim Zi Jun and Chew Zhie Ee. The excellence award was given to Chen Qi Zhen, Wong Li Ning and Lau Jia Ming while the special award was presented to Kan LeXuan, Aloysius Looi Fong Ming and Wong Yu Bin.
As for the advanced category, the consolation prize was given to Yap Yong Guan, Woo Yan Leng and Kee Hua Jinn. The excellence award was won by Low Hao Ee, Wai Lek Sheng and Ch’ng Jia Lin. Lastly, the special award went to Lim Zheng Hao, Jayden Goh and Ethan Goh.
