On the 16th of April 2026, a drama performance based off of “Si Tanggang Anak Derhaka” and was hosted in honor of Malay Week during second recess at the auditorium. The drama was a joint project between the Malay Language and Pendidikan Moral Departments. All performers and technical assistants were recruited exclusively from these two departments. All Junior 3 students and 5 students from each Senior 3 class, as well as other teachers attended the performance in support of their fellow teachers performing.

The show started at 12:35 p.m. with the narrator, Cikgu Hafizoh introducing the cast of actors. Cikgu Faris played the titular character Si Tanggang, Cikgu Mazlina acted as Si Tanggang’s mother, Si Demura and Cikgu Sarah played the daughter of the captain. Supporting actors include Cikgu Amirra, Cikgu Najmi, Cikgu Athirah, Cikgu Sulaiman and Cikgu Syed Zaki. The drama told about a boy named Si Tanggang wanting to work on a ship despite his mother’s wishes about him staying with her, causing him to run away in the night and join the ship’s crew.

There are two highlights in this performance, the first one being when Si Tanggang, who at this point has been working hard under the captain and currently stays with his family proposes to the captain’s daughter. When Cikgu Faris got on one knee and pulled out a ring, the whole hall erupted in whoops and cheers which got even louder when she accepted. The whole hall was buzzing with excitement, which made the second highlight even more shocking. Si Tanggang unwillingly returns to his hometown, where his mother, heartbroken by his disappearance, tries to reconnect with him. Taking everyone by surprise, not only did Si Tanggang push her away, he claimed that he could never have such a poor mother, and that he was an orphan. The hall was taken aback by this turn of events. Disheartened, Si Demura cried to God, praying that he would prove that she was Si Tanggang’s mother, after which Si Tanggang, his wife and the captain would be punished by being turned into stone.

The performance ended at 1:08 p.m. to the curtain call and the resounding applause given by the audience. A few final thank-yous were given by Cikgu Hafizoh and all teachers and students moved towards the stage for a final group photo before students returned to their classes.
