On the 14th of March 2026, a total of seventy-one Senior Three students and 25 English teachers attended the online MUET workshop in B501 and B502 as preparation for this year’s MUET examination. MUET is Malaysian University English Test, English proficiency test for higher education.

Participants started arriving at 7:45 AM and after a short greeting from Madam Vinodhini, our Head of the English Department, the workshop started at 8:00 AM. The workshop was led by Mr Anthony, who has been teaching for 36 years and marking MUET since 2004. He first talked about the MUET Writing Band Description, how he marked MUET and how grades were assigned. He then moved on to the individual sections, that being email and main essay. He talked about the marking scheme and how to score high marks, with participants taking notes.

The highlight of the workshop was when Mr Anthony asked students to try writing a small reply to an email as practice. Teachers patrolled the classroom and assisted struggling students with their reply as well as sending three replies over to Mr Anthony for his checking and criticism. The workshop ended at 10:02 AM. MUET is mainly for university admissions. All Senior Three participants are grateful for and value the opportunity to take part in the event.
