To appreciate the cultural significance of traditional crafts, the Academic Department organised a ketupat weaving workshop on the 14th of March 2026 at the School Canteen, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. The workshop was open to all students, with a total of 41 participants.

Before the workshop commenced, the materials were prepared with the help of the academic affairs committee. Each participant received 2 strips of ribbon, one coloured green and another yellow. The ribbons were an alternative to the leaves “Daun Palas”, which was originally used in the traditional ketupat.

In the opening stage of the workshop, students struggled with the complex process of ketupat weaving. However, with the patient guidance from the academic affairs committee members, they managed to overcome the challenging steps and tutorial. The students were determined to complete the weaving of ketupat with the help of Cikgu Sulaiman and Cikgu Mimi.

After weaving their ketupat, the students showcased their finished crafts to the committee members. As a reward for their participation, they were promised candies the week after. The vibrant colours of the ketupat symbolised the joy and festivity of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, while its square, dense pattern embodied the spirit of unity.

Each thread is filled with one’s hard work and another’s culture. Through this workshop, students were able to practice their precision and patience, showcasing their perseverance.
