What if a simple bookmark could create heartfelt messages? That is what students discovered at the English Week Bookmark Customisation Booth. This event was organised by the Western Calligraphy Society Club from 6 to 9 July 2026 during the first and second recess at the Canteen Foyer.
From a distance, the booth stood out with its bright display of colorful bookmarks, artistic calligraphy samples, and cheerful club members welcoming everyone who passed by. Curious students gathered to explore the beautiful designs, while many eagerly took part in customizing a bookmark that reflected their personality. The lively atmosphere was filled with laughter and creativity, making the booth one of the busiest spots on campus during the four-day event.

Students had a variety of eye-catching bookmark designs to choose from before customizing them with colorful markers. Whether they preferred bold colors, soft pastel shades, or intricate doodles, everyone had the freedom to unleash their imagination. Each bookmark became a unique masterpiece, designed to brighten every reading session.
What truly made the booth special was the personalized calligraphy service. Instead of writing the messages themselves, students could ask members of the Western Calligraphy Society to handwrite meaningful quotes, motivational words, names, or special messages in various elegant fonts. Many visitors were amazed to watch the skilled members transform plain words into beautiful works of art, showcasing the talent and dedication of the society.

For students looking to be even more creative, the Collage Making Set, priced at only RM3, included a mix of colorful stickers and scrapbook paper. This allowed them to decorate their bookmarks with unique patterns and creative designs. Individual bookmarks were also available for just RM2, making the activity affordable and accessible to everyone.
In an interview, the club president, Kew Mieng Yue, shared that the club aimed to promote gratitude through an activity that was both enjoyable and meaningful. “I hope that after this activity, students can read more and that the bookmark can bring a smile to their faces when they remember that a good friend gifted it to them,” she explained. Judging by the enthusiastic response throughout the event, the club clearly achieved its goal.
More than just an arts-and-crafts activity, the Bookmark Customisation Booth became a place where creativity flourished, friendships formed, and ordinary stationery transformed into treasured keepsakes. Every personalized bookmark carried a story, a memory, or an encouraging message that students could take home and use each time they opened a book.
