In conjunction with English Week, the English Language Society organised an escape room from the 6th to 10th of July 2026. Alongside last year’s escape room theme,”The Vanishing Hour”, a new theme named “The Last Screening” was introduced to players. This activity aimed to improve students’ critical thinking while developing their ability to solve puzzles by working together, hence attracting students’ participation.

Absent from the premiere stage of her latest film, Moonlight’s End, Vanessa de Winter disappeared without a trace, leaving a gaping void in the film industry. Since then, strange events have occurred, from paranormal anomalies to blurry silhouettes on stage, and now, a mysterious final screening is announced. As investigators, players have 30 minutes to work together to solve the mystery and reveal the truth behind everything before the final reel finishes.

The escape room experience included four rounds: “The Casting Call”, “The Projection Booth”, “The Dressing Room” and “The Final Screening”. Through relentless determination and logical thinking, players put one with another and solve the puzzles, becoming closer to the truth one step at a time. At the last round of the experience, players will receive a small card with “END SCREENING” printed on it, marking a successful escape.

At the end of the activity, each player was awarded a small momento, a small card with the theme of choice inscribed on it. In the end, players were able to enhance their observation and investigating skills while making special memories of English Week.
