Kuen Cheng High School’s 24 Festive Drums Club Members
On the 26th of April 2026, Kuen Cheng High School’s 24 Festive Drums Club delivered an outstanding performance at the Malaysia 24 Festive Drums National Competition (Central Region) held at Pin Hwa High School, proudly securing Third Place along with the prestigious Best Arrangement Award.
The competition, organised by the 24 Festive Drums Association Malaysia in collaboration with Souls Impact Percussion, brought together some of the most accomplished school drum teams across the central region. Participating schools included Hin Hua High School, Pin Hwa High School, Tsun Jin High School, Chong Hwa Independent High School, SMJK Chong Hwa, Confucian Private Secondary School, Kwang Hua Private High School, and Sekolah Menengah Chung Hua (PSDN.) Klang.

Representing Kuen Cheng High School, the team performed an original drum composition titled 《归一》(Return to One), a powerful composition that uses the seasonal drum as its medium, presenting the process of starting from “one”, moving towards “many” and then returning to “one”. “Returning to one is not the end, but rather, after undergoing changes, returning to the most essential and purest state.” said Taedeus Choy, the Coach of Kuen Cheng High School’s 24 Festive Drum Club.

Their performance captivated both judges and audience members through its precise synchronisation, dynamic rhythms, and visually striking choreography.
The recognition for Best Arrangement highlights the team’s creativity and dedication in blending traditional drumming techniques with innovative staging and movement. Their achievement reflects months of rigorous training, teamwork, and artistic refinement.

As the competition is held once every two years, this accomplishment marks a significant milestone for the Kuen Cheng High School 24 Festive Drums Club.
