On the 12th of July 2025, Kuen Cheng High School held their annual Inter-Class Choir Competition, jointly hosted by the Co-Curricular Department and the Chinese Department. The theme for this year’s competition was traditional folk songs, incentivising students to blend modern cultures of music with the music from our ancestral roots. Class by class, the students piled into the hall, eager to witness the cream of the crop of the initial preliminary round perform live on stage.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the emcees, introducing the judges of the finals. An informational video was played for all attending classes, detailing proper etiquette during such performances. The emcees proceeded to explain the basic rules of the competition, before the senior division of the competition began.

As each class jaunted onto the stage with pride, the talents of each class showed with each performance. Notably, Sr2ScD delivered a captivating performance that immediately drew the audience’s attention. Their ability to use their voices expressively, seamlessly weaving together intricate vocal harmonies, was truly outstanding and demonstrated a high level of musicality. What made their performance even more fascinating was the sense of unity and coordination they displayed on stage. Their routine resembled cheerleading in many ways, as they physically supported one another, symbolising trust and balance.

After the senior division came the junior division. Even though they were younger and less experienced than the seniors preceding them, that does not mean they are without talent. One of the most unforgettable performances of the junior division was by Jr2Z(2). From the moment they stepped on stage, they captivated the audience with their creativity and coordination. Holding up cards with lights on them, creating a bright and beautiful visual that made the stage come alive. As they rang the bells in perfect harmony, the soft sounds matched the lights perfectly, resulting in a performance that was both enchanting and emotionally uplifting. The performers’ facial expressions and smiles showcased youthful energy and passion, filling the stage with a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

With the competition coming to a close, the judges were given time to deliberate and discuss the performances to crown a champion whilst a video recounting the preliminary competition was shown on screen. Following that, one of the judges came onto the stage to talk about the performances, and more importantly, what could be improved on with each performance.

After the judges had come to a consensus, under way was the award giving ceremony. The students eagerly awaited the announcements of the emcees, as the winning classes were announced one by one, much like lottery numbers. In the end, the results were as follows:
