On the bright and festive morning of 24th May 2025, Kuen Cheng High School celebrated its annual Teacher’s Day with a blend of appreciation, laughter, and sportsmanship. Among the day’s most anticipated highlights was the traditional teacher-student basketball match — a thrilling friendly competition that brought together both teachers and Senior Three students not just to play, but to bond through the spirit of the game.
By 10:30 a.m., a crowd had already gathered around the basketball court, buzzing with excitement. Many students had eagerly made their way down from as high as the 8th floor, just to witness the matches live. Spectators stood shoulder to shoulder along the sidelines, cheering loudly, waving banners, and capturing moments on their phones.
The first match kicked off with 5 male students squaring off against 5 male teachers — a mix of PE instructors and other subject teachers. At the sound of the referee’s whistle, the court burst into action. The players dashed across the court with intense focus, weaving between opponents with quick passes and powerful drives to the hoop. The game was neck and neck, with the scoreline changing rapidly and keeping the crowd on edge. As the final minutes approached, the teachers, displaying clever teamwork and surprising agility, managed to take a narrow lead and held it until the whistle blew — claiming their first win of the day.

Next up, the spotlight shifted to the female teachers and students. In a high-energy 5v5 match, the court was alive with determination and fierce competitiveness. The student players showed off impressive coordination and speed, while the teachers brought experience and strategy to the game. The crowd roared with every shot, rebound, and steal. Ultimately, the students edged out the teachers, earning a well-deserved victory and proving that girl power was in full force on the court.

The day continued with a total of five matches: three involving male teams and two female matchups. In all three boys’ games, the teachers managed to secure wins, using their composure and team dynamics to overcome the students’ energetic plays. Meanwhile, the girls’ matches saw the students triumph in both rounds, showcasing not just athletic talent but also unwavering school spirit.

Although the final scoreboard showed the teacher group winning overall — 3 matches to 2 — the true victory was the camaraderie built between students and teachers. From the courtside cheers to the playful banter during breaks, the event created an atmosphere of unity and respect. It was a reminder that beyond lessons and textbooks, learning can also take place through shared moments and mutual support.
The event ended on a high note as all participants and spectators gathered for a group photo, faces beaming with smiles and pride. The 2025 Teacher-Student Basketball Match was more than just a game — it was a celebration of connection, sportsmanship, and the Kuen Cheng spirit.
