On the 26th of July 2025 (Saturday), Kuen Cheng Interact Club organised an International Understanding Day (IU Day), an event also held by Interact clubs around the world to promote cross-cultural understanding and unity. The theme of this year’s IU Day was “Sustainable Fashion”, aimed to shed light onto the harmful effect of fast fashion on our environment and highlight the ways to mitigate this global crisis.
The event, held at the school auditorium, kicked off with the international understanding segment —- an exchange video introduction with the Interact Club of Rio de Sul, Brazil. The video highlights the beauty of Brazilian culture and provides interesting facts about the country.
Next, a drama performance ensued. It was a comedy about a young entrepreneur who endeavoured to make it big into the fashion industry, climbing through the ranks by charging his “biodegradable” clothes at an insane mark up price, but only to meet his end when his unethical behaviour was revealed by an unlucky turn of fate. After the drama, a video about how some organisations within the country handle and solve this fast fashion crisis was broadcasted to the audience.

Finally a 20 minute break time ensued, where the participants were given some snacks to replenish their energy for the next few exciting workshops.
After their break, the activity continued with the workshop session. There were three workshops held, with the three being a tote bag making workshop, cd painting workshop and keychain making workshop. With all three workshops teaching the attendees about how to create new and fashionable items from unwanted items.

After wrapping up the workshop session, the attendees returned to the auditorium to feast their eyes on a fashion show featuring a variety of outfits made from recycled materials, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. Following the fashion show, the audience was treated to an energetic dance performance that further enlivened the atmosphere.

Finally, before the day concluded, all members of the Interact Club came together to sing “Heal the World”, a heartfelt testament to international understanding and harmony among nations.
