The opening ceremony of KC Rundemic, a sports event hosted by the Kuen Cheng High School Committee on COVID-19 Prevention, was officially held on the 5th of June. At 8.30 am sharp, the opening ceremony began to stream on Youtube.

The ceremony started off with the emcees introducing the purpose and the details of the event. With the easing of the pandemic in our country, it has become more and more convenient for us to carry out sports activities outdoors. The event is separated into 3 groups, the 5km fun run, the 21km fun run, and the 10km race.

Next up is a speech by the Principal, Madam Chua Lee Lee. She stated that teens are in their growth stage, and it is important for them to carry out sports activities. Virtual runs do not have restrictions on time and space, where it is a marathon with no specific starting line or finish line. This event is open to all students, teachers, and parents. Madam Chua encourages everyone to strive for physical fitness under the new phase of the pandemic by walking more and moving more. Lastly, she blessed the participants of KC Rundemic with good health and the event smooth running.

Next is a speech from the person-in-charge of KC Rundemic, Wong En Hui from Sr2B. For the last two years, the School has been hosting a bunch of activities for students to participate online. Fortunately, we resumed lots of physical activities this year. KC Rundemic used the concept of a virtual run. The event received as many as 910 people. She also introduced the logo of the event: a running laptop, which represents that the event is a race held online. The blue, yellow, and red lines are derived from the School’s sports uniform. The footprints on the poster, t-shirt, medal, and number plate are from the School’s student card and teacher card. The footprints were visible on the School’s old building which was earlier demolished. Although they were long gone, its spirit always stayed and continued to remind us to move on. She thanked the Committee and sponsors of this event. Lastly, she wished every participant good luck at the event.

Now for the fun part, the Committee on COVID-19 Prevention leads everyone through simple exercises to stretch out our bodies in the morning.

Let’s stretch our bodies!

Now, we came to the main part of the ceremony, which is the kick-off of the event. After the countdown, our Vice Principal Madam Koo Lai Ping waved the School Flag that signified the official launching of the sports event and the closing of the ceremony.
