On the 17th of January 2026, the Kuen Cheng High School Co-curricular Department held an introductory session with the aim to familiarise Junior 1 students to the Student’s Performance Record system. This Record aims to record and celebrate the daily lives and efforts of students within the school that cannot be displayed with academic grades alone. It was formally introduced by the Vice Principal, Ms Koo Lai Ping, and aided by the Admin Head of the Co-curricular Department, Ms Lim Bee Hsiang.

The session began with Ms Koo explaining the purpose of the Student’s Performance Record. She explained that much like similar systems used in the US and China, it helps to integrate life skills into a student’s skill set. For example, students could undergo first aid training they would not otherwise undergo in a typical academic syllabus. Ms Koo emphasised the importance of these life skills in the life of a student, citing that knowledge can only get you so far, whereas skills are an important facet in the portfolio of any student.

Ms Koo went on to explain the steps a student should take to add to their Student’s Performance Record. A student should navigate to the Kuen Cheng High School KC Site, then fill in the Google Form that relates to the activity the student wishes to add into their individual Record. Ms Koo further explained regarding the types of activities that can be added into the Student’s Performance Record, including but not limited to Reading Activities, Events and Community Service, and the Teamwork and Commitment.

After this, the introduction transitioned into a Q&A segment, where students would receive a reward for correctly answering questions regarding the input of Record. This garnered a positive response from all the students, as they all eagerly participated in the Q&A segment, vying for the boons the teachers were distributing.

At 12.10pm sharp, the programme concluded with a brief video that summarized the entire introduction, highlighting the objectives and applications of the Student’s Performance Record, as well as the documentation process. In closing, Ms. Koo encouraged the students with the message, “Igniting passion brings your dreams to life!”
