On the morning of 28/2, three senior students came into our classroom. The day before, they had already asked us to bring two pieces of red color paper. When they entered the classroom, I was already guessing that we were going to be doing some arts and crafts about the upcoming Chinese New Year.
They first introduced themselves, then told us that we were going to be making a fortune god and a fortune pouch using the red papers. When I heard them say that, I felt like I was on top of the world! Finally, we are not stuck in another lecture about “how to maintain a healthy lifestyle” or “what to do when your friend gets hurt.” We are about to do something different in school and have some fun!

There was one senior teaching the ways to fold the paper into an origami fortune god at the front of the classroom, while the other two seniors were walking around the classroom helping out students who had trouble folding it. Sometimes when students don’t get the steps, the senior student will have to repeat it again and again until we get it. From her action, I learned about the importance of patience. Whether you’re doing something, waiting for someone, or teaching a class, patience is key.
Everything went well until I finished folding the fortune god’s head and was drawing on his eyes and mouth. I was supposed to draw it on his face but I drew it on his hat by accident! I was really thinking about my decision like my life depended on it, whether to just act like nothing happened or refold his head. After thinking for a long time, I finally made up my decision to refold it. At first I forgot some of the steps but then with the help of my wonderful deskmate that has a memory of an elephant, I successfully refolded it!.
Things went really well afterwards, even though my fortune pouch ended up a little tilted, I was still proud of my results, as sometimes different results are special and unique in their own way.
