A two-day workshop titled “Cultivating Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence: Empowering Educators for Optimal Well-Being and Leadership” was held on 21st and 22nd June 2025 at Bangi Resort Hotel, bringing together teachers of Kuen Cheng High School’s English, BM, Sejarah and Pendidikan Moral Departments, and the Admin Staff for an inspiring and enriching experience.

This programme aimed to equip teachers and staff with practical tools to manage stress, enhance emotional well-being, and foster stronger teamwork and leadership.

Day 1: Cultivating Well-Being and Work-Life Balance

The first day, facilitated by Ng Foo Yek, Angus, an experienced trainer from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), focused on mindfulness as a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety. Through reflective practices, discussions, and simple breathing techniques, participants learned how to step out of ‘autopilot mode’ and approach challenges with greater calm, clarity, and emotional resilience.

Participants also explored how to navigate difficult emotions, build stronger connections, and reconnect with their personal values and sense of purpose — essential steps towards a healthier work-life balance.

Day 2: Unleashing the Spark with Movement and Mindset

Day two shifted into an energetic, activity-based approach led by Ms. Sanggari Krishnan, a lecturer and trainer from UTAR. Through engaging team games such as “Let’s Shift the Shape”, “Emotion Relay”, and “Motivation Minefield”, participants strengthened communication, empathy, and leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment.

The hands-on activities encouraged teamwork, trust-building, and positive affirmation, reigniting motivation among participants. The day concluded with a meaningful reflection session, where educators shared key takeaways and how they planned to bring these lessons back to their schools.
