In honour of the Malay Month, Kuen Cheng High School held a traditional weaving event on the 19th of April 2025. Divided into groups of four, the Senior Middle One students started their handicraft, applying their creativity and ideas on their designs. Two Malay teachers were also assigned to each class to support and guide the students throughout the activity. They elaborated on the art of weaving and guided the students on how to complete their patterns.

As the activity proceeds, students tried their best in perfecting the designs, focusing their utmost attention to every little detail. With each snip of a scissor and interlace of the colourful paper strands, unique and lovely patterns were brought to life, each radiating the classic and historical aura an authentic woven product would have.

Throughout the activity, several teachers entered the class with the goal of interviewing students on their opinions of the activity. The selected students shared about their experience, describing how this activity allowed them to express their creativity while further exposing them to traditional Malay culture.

By the end of the day, the Senior Middle One students felt joyful and proud of the designs they had completed! Through this activity, the students learnt about how hard work and unity were the key to success, and the importance of preserving traditional cultures amongst the younger generation.
